Awagami Factory’s washi, Japanese paper, is 100% crafted and produced by the Fujimori family in Tokushima, Japan. The family put their effort into preserving their techniques and passing them on to the next generation. Throughout history, two Fujimori family members were bestowed by the emperor with the “Order of the Sacred Treasure, Silver Rays.”.
The washi of Awagami Factory is made from natural fibers: Kozo, Bamboo, Mitsumata, Gampi, and Hemp. Japanese washi is made from renewable plant resources that reach maturity in 1-2 years. Awagami factory also focuses on the environment, using renewable plants and by recycling all water used during production.
Awagami Factory handmade paper, which is made using traditional techniques and takes advantage of the texture that can only be achieved by hand, is highly regarded both in Japan and overseas in a variety of scenes, including art, architecture, and interior design. They often collaborate with artisans from abroad to improve and find new concepts.
